Where did you meet your Bride/Groom?

We lived in the same student flats at University- our separate groups of friends basically merged into a 'super group' of friends. He later moved into our student house with his mate (who was later our best man). So I ended up living in a house with 5 boys and me. About a year or so after we met we kind of got together at a party... But it took 9 months of persistence (from me!) to become actual girlfriend and boyfriend!

When did you get married and where?

What dress/suit size were you when you got married? (only answer if you want to)

I can't remember exactly what size I was - I had my dress made to fit me so it didn't have a label! I think I was about a size 20. I'd tried all kinds of things to lose weight but yo-yoed at the end and put weight on. I wish I'd known now that my dress size was no correlation to how beautiful I would look or feel or how happy I would be on the big day!

What was your experience of finding a dress/suit?

I was really anxious about going dress shopping and not liking anything on my 'fat' frame - I wasn't as confident or positive about my body back then! The first shop I tried changed my perceptions - there were several dresses to try and I felt beautiful in all of them!
I later found my 'dream dress' online but couldn't find it in stock anywhere - so I decided to see if someone could make me one in a similar style to fit me. This meant that if my size fluctuated they'd be able to re-fit it too! I found Camilla Brides in Norwich who were fantastic. They made me a dress that I adored. I was even able to go strapless! The dress ended up cheaper than the one I first fell in love with too.

I had one fitting which knocked my confidence a little - the photos that were taken (I felt) were not very flattering as I had what I described as a 'bum back' where the lacing pulled at my back fat... I was mortified that this would happen on my big day and that I'd be a laughing stock at my own wedding! Obviously, I wasn't going to be - but Bridezilla can be a bit unhinged...! In order to ensure it didn't happen I had a very lovely lady come in and help me into my dress on the day. She was amazing! And ensured I was laced in perfectly! I can't remember her name though...

Describe your day.

I wish I could remember more!We had a small and intimate ceremony, where my 10 bridesmaids made up almost a quarter of the guests! We were surrounded by our closest friends and family and we felt it was perfect. The ceremony was short, but there was lots of crying!! Then later we had a bigger evening reception for the rest of our friends and family, an opportunity for us to celebrate and let our hair down! With our grand finale - Jason and I had rehearsed a rap -Tricky by Run DMC, which we performed to our guests in Mr and Mrs hoodies. The photos of the rap and our guest's response to it are my favourite from the whole day!
We decided not to have a wedding photographer as neither of us felt comfortable about having someone we didn't know take pictures of us. It really helped us to be less anxious on the day! Particularly for the rap!!

Anything else you want to add.

In the lead up to the wedding you find yourself getting caught up in the tiny details of things, worrying about whether to have button holes for all guests, belly-aching over whether to hire chair covers or whatever else... On the day none of this mattered to me. I remember the wedding planner dragging me away to see the evening buffet to check I was satisfied - I never even had a mouthful! Spending time with the people I love, celebrating the love Jason and I have for each other and having a brilliant evening packed with laughter and dancing was all that mattered. It was one of the best days of our lives and I wouldn't change a thing... Not even my dress size!
