I am sad to say that Autumn has come early to the UK but it also means exciting new collections from our favourite fashion brands! The warm rich colours and chunky knits we all love to encase ourselves in when the its cold outside.

Given the chance to have a sneaky peek at the Asos Curve Autumn/Winter 2014 collection I thought I would share my favourite pieces and do my first Autumn outfit post of the season.

I love the vintage look to this midi dress which has a William Morris feel to it with the print. The colours go with my newly dyed hair and I feel rather grown up in this outfit. It is silly to say that since I am 34 and have a baby but I tend to dress like a child most of the time. I go for fun novelty prints and colours.

The back cutout detail is fun and the colours made this dress a must for my maybe too young wardrobe. It is a thin material with no stretch so sized up. the length is longer on me as I am a shortie but I like it. The sleeves are also a little longer but is a nice change. I can see me wearing this with a thick furry cardigan and boots on the colder days this winter and also breaking it out in the Summer months too.

Fatshionologie is a blogger style challenge born out of a discussion on twitter in the hopes that it would help us create exciting new content for out blogs as well as show that each new style 'theme' can be rocked by a variety of different body shapes.

For this months Challenge we chose Floral and this is also the first of my Plus Size Clothes Swap items! I picked up this little orange cardi in a size 22 from Asda which looked new. It isn't a colour I would normally go for but because it was free I thought I could make it work and when I got home after the Swap I had a parcel waiting for me from New Look Inspire. I had ordered this dress as soon as I saw it on their website as it was only £12.99 and figured it would sell out fast. I was right. To my surprise the peach and rust roses on the dress matched perfectly with the cardi. I am also wearing a bra I got from Rebecca at the swap in a size 42GG from Panache and is the most comfortable bra I have ever tried. I may need to size up to an H when I invest in new bras but it works for now. I wore this outfit on my birthday and felt lovely in it.

Since Rachel and I have the a lot of the same dresses we decided to do a combined post and show you how I styled a dress and then you can have a look at how Rachel has styled the same dress. Really a 2 for 1 post you lucky readers! Which is why we have called this Challenge - Twice As Nice. Look out for more in the future!

Todays dress is from Simply Be and I have had my eye on it for quite some time but the £36 price tag kept it out of my reach until Boxing Day when the Sales started. It dropped down to £25 and with a free postage code and an extra 10% off code I got it for £22.50!

I had seen the beautiful Elena of Frivolous Mrs D post about this dress here a while back and loved it so much. It has a vintage look to it and a lovely v neck and floaty sleeves. It was also available in 2 other colours but the navy with red dots was pictured in the Simply Be catalogue below looked perfect.


To be honest I was a bit disappointed when it arrived. It was a thin cotton shirt material with many creases and I do not iron anything! I thought it would be a jersey material with stretch. I tried it on and thought it a little tight over my bust because of no stretch. The length was good and I loved the sleeves and v of the neck. I was torn with keeping it or sending it back so decided to take some pictures and see it from a different view.




I was wowed by how lovely it looked on and after wearing it for a while was happy with the fit and the tighter bust just gave me better cleavage! My only issue now is as you can see from the close up that my polka dot bra can been seen through the fabric so must remember to wear a plain one next time or even a chemise as pants may also be visible.




Look at my cute Bowler Hat with EARS!!!! I found this little gem on ebay and it reminded me a bit of Hello Kitty so thought I should purchase it and so happy I did.

I have been wearing Glasses since I was 11 years old and found myself in the middle of math class asking to borrow my friends glasses so I could read the problems off the blackboard. Turning into a teen is hard enough without being fat and having to wear glasses. As you can imagine I was not one of the cool kids. I was bullied at times but had a core group of friends that got me through the crappy times.

I remember getting my first pair of glasses and feeling happy that I had picked a nice frame and was happy to wear them. Plus I could see!!!! It was not long after I got them when a great aunt came to visit and and I had not seen her in a few years. We were not close. The first words out of her mouth upon seeing me were " You know boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses!" I remember thinking what? Is this true? Will I forever be alone? Obviously we all know this is complete rubbish! Although at the time it had me worried and its stupid off the cuff comments like this that can crush childrens spirit. Be mindful of what you say.
Not long after this The Spice Girls came on the scene and were pro glasses wearers! Which helped me and many other I am sure.

All of the glasses below are Vintage but NOS. Meaning New Old Stock. I have purchased mainly from Dead Men's Spex on ebay and Etsy. You can buy vintage frames from many places and if you shop around online you can get prescription lenses fitted for as little as £15 including postage. If you go to a optician on the high street you can be quoted up to £50 just for lenses! Can you say RIP OFF!
